For those of you that might remember, I started (last year) working on a project gun based on the TechStar. I cut the barrel back to 13" and tuned power back to about 21fpe. Problem was...it was LOUD!!!! I had a few breech risers fabricated to accommodate a shroud and made myself a new transfer port (DaveG used a set to make Steve in CT's .25 Hammer). Also, based on El C/JB's recommendation, I fabricated a baffle for the reservoir to cut out the "tink" of the air resonating inside the reservoir.

The gun was dropped off with Steve at Pomona Air back in January. Some problems along the way (with suppliers)...but finally, my gun's ready. I drove out there early AM (1-1/2 hour drive) and picked it up.

Now I can finally get back to fine tuning (I still am adjusting hammer spring, transfer port, etc.) for better consistency. The problem before was it was so darn loud, I couldn't shoot it to test each adjustment. Although it's not silent (I gave Steve a length restriction...It couldn't end up longer than the stock TechStar), it's very reasonable for a 20+fpe rifle (now the quietest PCP I own....slightly louder than a 2004). It's only about 36.5" long at the moment. I temporarily removed the butt pad, as it's a bit too long (length of pull). I am actually thinking about making a folding stock for it, as the barrel action is only about 24.5" long. It would make for a nice portable hunter. Next, I'm going to throw on the 6x Leapers Ill. Mil-Dot and she should be ready to start playing with.... Swins....you were asking before about the "window sniping gun"....I'm working on it! "Silence is Golden!" -PR
