woke up today at 7am. Left the house at 8:30am. Got to my
hunting spot before 10. Not bad eh?? He he
Did some long range sniping today. Most of these Jacks were shot at 70yards and
1 at 55yards. Took out the .22 Rapid , and shot the first one.
Then my .25 Rapid was dying , and was begging for me to use him because he never
had a Jack under his belt. So I got 2 for him.
My sniping point of view
Heres a pic of the 3rd jack taken out with the .25. This was a 55 yard shot,
dropped him cold. He didnt know what him ..You see him? circled it.
another view of my shooting angle
Whack em & Stack em.
All in all, I had a great time. 4 hours long . he he
. 3 for the .25 and 1
for the .22. With Kodiaks in both caliburs. (.22 Rapid- 950fps) ( .25 Rapid-
920fps).

SP Check out the versatility
of the CAMO in various shades, light angles and backgrounds.

Results of Rock Chuck
Hunting 60 over a 1.5 day period - Killer B
Every year
I look forward to the month of July cause this is the time I hope for a call
from Tim for the Rock Chuck Season in Central Oregon, he did not disappoint.
Both Tim and I were using our custom AZ .20 caliber MK II Rapids, mine was with
a Dave G. stock his with a M. Abernathy. Last year was my first year at it and I
think Tim and I came away with about 25 or so this year over a 1.5 day period we
came away with around 60 kills most all head shots between 45-70 yards. We
walked a lot of property and it would have been to much work to carry them all
back for a photo op so we settled for the ones closest to the farm house as we
had told the farmer we would gladly remove these carcasses. I spend the day or
two before at Tim’s house dialing in my Rapid for the long yardage, and
knowing with a cheat sheet of course how many Mil Dots down at say 60 yards, our
Rapids didn’t fail us we were popping them left and right at an average
distance of 60 yards. With Rock Chucks you can see them running if front of you
at about 100+ yards and diving into the Rocks for cover, then you find a spot in
the shade at around 50 Yards and wait them out, and they eventually will slowly
come out. Tim’s shots were amazing he could reach out to 75 yards no problem
and that pellet was like a laser finding it’s spot exactly. We would use our
laser range finders to establish the distance and it was all over. We left
Vancouver at about 3 am on Tuesday and arrived around 6:30 am at our first hunt,
lots of walking and waiting, and as a extra bonus ran into a full family of Cal
Ground Squirrels hanging out in a rock pile about 15 in all we shared in the
extermination. Finally quit for the day at around 6 PM we were both beat, then
off to Motel 6 for some shut eye and new tactics for the following day. Both of
us were tired Sun burned and looking forward to a good nights sleep. There were
several areas that we had not got to on the first day, so we went to this
particular area straight away found a tree at about 50 yards and hunkered down
for the wait as we saw at least 6 or so Rock Chucks go in to this particular
wall on the walk up. Sure enough we pulled at least 9 from this area in a matter
of a hour or so. It’s always funny as you approach the spot as the Chuck will
sound a chirping noise to alert the pother Chucks of the danger, they got that
right. Temperature was sunny and in the upper 80’s and now it’s time to
relax and think about next year, and the tactics we will use then to maxi mix
our take for the day. Once again a big thanks to Tim I for allowing me the
opportunity to tag along to his Hunting spots, and for letting me come by and
fine tune my distance shooting at his property. Looking forward to next year
already but 1 day will be just fine………LOL
